STEEL SHEET PILES

STEEL SHEET PILE INTRODUCTION

Steel sheet piling is a manufactured construction product with a mechanical connection "interlock" at both ends of the section.

Sheet piles are installed in sequence to design depth along the planned excavation perimeter or seawall alignment. The interlocked sheet piles form a wall for permanent or temporary lateral earth
support with reduced groundwater inflow.

Sheet pile walls have been used to support excavations for below grade parking structures, basements, pump houses, and foundations, construct cofferdams, and to construct seawalls and bulkheads. Permanent steel sheet piles are designed to provide a long service life.

Sheet piles are also a sustainable option since recycled steel is used in their construction, and the piles can often be reused.

Hot rolled and cold formed are two primary methods of manufacturing sheet pile. While there are key differences between these two methods, the most important distinction is the interlock. Since hot rolled sheet piles are produced from steel at high temperatures, the interlock tends to be tighter than
its cold formed counterpart. Normally, looser interlocks are not recommended in extremely hard driving conditions or for walls requiring low permeability. Hot rolled sheet piles are generally larger and have a broader range of strengths than cold form sheet piles, but there is a large overlap between the two, especially in the most common sizes.

    FAQ

Hot roll sheet pile are generally cheaper than the cold formed sheet pile. The price also varies with the dimensions. Feel free to contact us to enquire on the exact price.

The width of sheet piles ranges from 400mm to 500mm, height ranges from 100mm to 225mm. The thickness of the sheet ranges from 10.5mm to 27.6mm. The length of sheet piles is measured by meter.

The weight of sheet piles ranges from 48kg/m for the smallest size, and 120kg/m for the biggest size.
